If you are anything at all like me, you almost certainly would've fainted when you received a quote for Search engine optimization services. I know that I was quoted more than £350 a month for a standard package with no guarantees. As my regular job includes a level of SEO work, I made the decision to teach myself about SEO! But this of course resulted in another difficult question. How and where do you obtain great quality links? I'd observed that old motto that you need a lot of high quality links coming from a varied range of sources. But from where exactly? Well, Build My Rank is a product that I've recently found that has helped (at least to some extent) to answer this question, and it is exactly this service that I will be reviewing in this article. I will try my upmost to provide a fair and impartial review.
Exactly how does it work?
This is essentially how it works. You subscribe, on a monthly basis, to the BMR service, and in return you can gain access to their very large network of blog sites. These are high quality, aged domains that have already had their ‘link juice’ built up over time- They range from PR1 to PR6 sites, and are hosted across a range of IP addresses, so from the search engines perspectives they appear very natural. Basically what you do to gain a back link is write a short article with a minimum of 150 words. BMR do insist, however, that all posts consist of completely original content. If your post is not original it WILL get rejected. Once approved your post (along with your link) will go onto one of the networks 1200 blog sites. BMR then does a little bit of bookmarking magic to ensure that your link has greater ‘juice’ and that Google indexes it. You can write as many of these posts as you like- you only have to pay your monthly subscription fee. It’s quite a simple concept and process really.
The Negatives
Let’s look at the negative aspects of BMR initially. In the first instance it does come at a cost. It costs around $60 a month, which for me (as a Brit) is roughly £40 a month. So it’s not really the cheapest product on the market. The other downside is that you have to put some effort into BMR for it to work. That’s right, you can’t just strike a button, put your feet up and sip on a pina colada! Each link requires you to write a post of at least 150 words, and it has to be original content. If you attempt to use existing content published elsewhere on the net it will be rejected. So, if you are a bit on the laid back side this isn’t the solution for you. That said, you can of course contract out the writing to other people if this isn’t your strong point.
The Positives
Now let’s take a look at the positives. You may consider the fact that BMR insists on original content to be a negative. In my opinion the opposite is true as it ensures that the quality of the blog posts and in turn the blogs is high. This is incredibly important, particularly in the ‘post-Panda’ world. I have found the links generated by Build My Rank to be of a high quality. To give you an example of the effectiveness of this tool, I recently managed to get my ranking for the term ‘London Wedding Photographers’ from the bottom of page 2 for Google, to position 5 of the top page. 90% of the links for this term I generated through Build My Rank, so it demonstrates how effective the tool can be, if utilized correctly.
I also like the fact that BMR automatically ‘bookmark’ your posts to make sure that Google indexes them. Indeed, there's hardly any point in going to the effort of developing back links if the search engines don’t locate them! The other great thing about BMR is that they offer customers the choice of a free trial. You can get up to 10 links through the system at no cost. If you don't like the results you are getting you can simply cancel the trial. In the earlier part of this article I pointed out that this may not be the most suitable product for everybody, so it's great that it is being offered on a free trial basis.
Conclusion
I've personally had really good end results with BMR, so it’s near impossible for me to give you a 100% objective review. I would personally point out that it's not the product for those that are searching for an easy answer that doesn’t involve any leg work. That said, with a bit of effort the results you can get with BMR are excellent. Please, please bear in mind, however, that as with every sort of backlink building strategy, you need to make sure that you do not only use one system. It’s an absolutely fundamental concept with SEO that you obtain links from a diverse selection of sources, and not simply from one source, which will appear unnatural.
